Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowls: Join our faith community – and nearly 14,000 Catholic communities across the United States – in a life-changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice Bowl. Pickup your family’s CRS Rice Bowl at the back of church this weekend. During the 40 days of Lent, as companions on the journey, we will encounter our neighbor. In Iraq, we encounter Majd and his family, people forced to flee violence, searching for stability. How are we called to welcome the stranger in our midst? How can you support those, worldwide, who are forced to flee their homes to find safety or better opportunities? Visit crsricebowl.org for more.
Guatemala Sister Parish: Visit Partnership website to view pictures from our sister parish. See pictures of Our Lady of Mercy, rosary made by the children, and coffee grown, handpicked, and golden roasted.
Vocation Corner: Life is about saying “yes” to the things that help you grow in holiness and no to the things that don’t. Life is about searching for the best version of yourself. Today’s culture doesn’t have a vision for the human person. The goal of today’s culture is consumption as we no longer are the consumers — we are being consumed. It is time for us to start thinking about where our lives are leading and to where God is calling us. The ways of the world lead to confusion. God’s way leads to clarity, order and to a meaningful living with joy. Life is a choice we all have to make. So, fulfill God’s vision for you and answer his call with a “yes”.

This is a very special day, this is the First Sunday of Lent, the rite of sending. Please pray for our Candidate, Katelyn Blades, who will be at the Cathedral of St. Peter, to receive the Rite of Election, from The Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton Ph.D., S.T.D. Bishop of Belleville. In today’s first reading from Genesis, God made a Covenant with Noah, like Katelyn, who herself is making a Covenant with Jesus Christ. Please pray for her, during her journey throughout this Lenten season. Good Day and God Bless. Deacon Archie.
What do we do when we’re facing an upcoming big event, celebration, or special occasion in our lives? We prepare for it. Holy Week and Easter are “big events” in the liturgical year of the Church and in the spiritual life of a Christian. So, as Christians, we prepare spiritually for these through the forty days of Lent. This means that, during Lent, we rededicate ourselves to prayer. I wish all of you fruitful Lent! God bless you! Fr. Slawomir Ptak
