In this week’s Deacon notes we need to focus on the Prophet Amos, he was a Minor Prophet, he told Amaziah the Priest, I’m no prophet, I’m a shepherd. But God can use us all….. we can use an Amos today, he preached on the evils, of social doings, pagan worship, and made an urgent call of repentance. We live in a world turned upside down, with abortion, euthanasia, materialism, and trying to take God out of everything. With the social today, to many electronic devices, sometimes we all (including myself) need to put down our phones, God gives us the incentive to righteous living, this modern life is certainly not an excuse to sin. Put down the phones for one day, and give it God. Amen! Good day and God Bless, Deacon Archie.
The message of our Lord Jesus Christ for this Sunday is to travel light in the journey of life. Wealth, desire for recognition and personal pride can stunt our desire for God and our freedom to love and to do good. We are here for a short period of time. Jesus advises us to make the most of it for ourselves and for others. Jesus sent his disciples to preach the Good News of God’s Kingdom. They were always pilgrims, with the sandals of the wanderer. Following Christ means becoming a little bit of a wanderer. In our relationship with him and in our knowledge of him we are never grounded and stuck but are always on the move. This is his gift to us, not just our achievement. Have a blessed week! Fr. Slawomir Ptak
