JUBILEE OF SICK AND HEALTHCARE WORKERS - REFLECTION FROM A PARISH NURSE
As I reflect on my journey as a nurse, particularly during this Jubilee of Healthcare Workers, I am filled with a deep sense of pride, gratitude, and humility. This milestone offers an opportunity not only to celebrate the work we do but also to acknowledge the dedication, resilience, and compassion that define the nursing profession. Throughout my professional career, I was called to work within nursing education. Encouraging and investing in those interested in nursing has added to the profound impact of our local communities. Through mentorship and hands-on training, I strive to prepare students to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system and instill the qualities needed to provide compassionate care to those we serve. This Jubilee is not just about celebrating the accomplishments of individual nurses, but recognizing the collective effort of an entire healthcare community. It is about acknowledging the sacrifices made and the lives touched in ways both big and small. Every life we care for, every person we comfort, and every hand we hold has an impact—one that ripples through families, communities, and society at large. As nurses, we may often work behind the scenes, but our influence is profound. Our role is not only to treat illness but to provide hope, healing, and dignity. I am grateful for our community and those who have entrusted me and my students with their care, allowing us to be part of their healing journeys. My career has been shaped by these experiences and reminds me why I was called to the profession. I look forward to continuing to care for our community with the same dedication, compassion, and purpose that first led me to become a nurse.
