THANK YOU
Dear Fr. Ptak and the Parish family of St. John the Baptist,
Thank you all for the gracious hospitality in welcoming folks from Freeburg, Fairfield, Herrin, McLeansboro and all points in between who came to attend Mom's funeral service. Thanks to the dear ladies who fixed food and/or served the luncheon...the folks at Herrin are still talking about the fine meal that was served. They were truly impressed. Thanks to the choir for adding their voice and leading the singing. Thanks to the altar servers - you did a fine job. On the Saturday before Mom died, she looked at me and said, "I want to go home." Mom lived with me and I was her primary caregiver right up to the end so I knew that she meant Piopolis. Thanks to you all for helping me to bring Mom home - to her resting place next to my Dad.

POPE'S DECEMEBR PRAYER INTENTION: FOR CATECHISTS
Each month, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network prepares The Pope Video, in which the Holy Father reveals his special prayer intentions for that month. Here is link for December video: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2021-11/pope-s-december-prayer-intention-for-catechists.html. For December 2021, the Pope is praying “for the catechists, summoned to announce the Word of God: may they be its witnesses, with courage and creativity and in the power of the Holy Spirit, with joy and much peace.” Pope Francis is inviting everyone to pray for catechists. Catechists have an invaluable mission for the transmission and growth of the faith.” In his video message, Pope Francis says, “The lay ministry of catechist is a vocation; it’s a mission… It’s an entire way of being.” He said the Church needs “good catechists who are both companions and teachers.” So, he said, the Church needs “creative people who proclaim the Gospel, but who proclaim it neither with a mute nor with a loudspeaker, but rather with their life, with gentleness, with a new language, and opening new ways.” Let us remember, in our Parish, to pray for those who teach our children in the PSR program and show them appreciation throughout the whole year.
